TCS Interview Experience — NQT, technical interview and HR round, round by round.

Three rounds. Round 1 was the online test: an easy English MCQ section, an aptitude section with both easy and tough questions, then technical MCQs on C, data structures and algorithms (longest common subsequence, knapsack, time complexity, sorting) plus a coding question that combined two or more series. Round 2 was a 45-minute Skype interview that began with the resume — the panel noticed R, Python and a machine-learning minor project and dug in: why ML, the candidate's role in the project, Big Data, regression, clustering, k-means and classification, then a program in C and in R to check whether a year is a leap year. It closed with favourite subjects in class 12, willingness to relocate, and what happens if another company offers a higher package. Round 3 was a group HR round that scanned mark sheets for gaps in marks and asked the eight candidates to name the four people the panel should hire.

Tips from this drive

Know your minor project end to end — most of the technical conversation came from it. Do not finish an answer in one word, and steer the discussion towards what you actually know. Prepare for a real HR round: the panel scans mark sheets and asks you to defend them.
